Kitchen and home appliances get some of the deepest Black Friday discounts every year. That makes it the best moment to replace the old toaster or buy the air fryer you've been considering. Here is what is worth it, and what to check before you buy.
Air fryer
The best-selling small appliance of the last five years, and still going strong.
- Size: 4 litres for one or two people, 6 litres or more for a family.
- Look for: a dishwasher-safe basket and a window to watch your food.
- Black Friday price: around $90 for a 6-litre model, often down from $150.
Knife set
- Look for: full-tang blades (the steel runs through the handle) and a block or magnetic strip.
- Skip: sets with 20 or more pieces. You'll use five of them.
- Black Friday price: around $43 for a solid 14-piece set.
Robot vacuum with mop
- Look for: lidar navigation (it maps your home) and an app with no-go zones.
- Nice to have: a self-emptying base, though it adds $100 or more.
- Black Friday price: around $200 for a model with mopping, often down from $350.
Espresso and coffee machines
- Bean-to-cup: grinds fresh beans at the push of a button. The big-ticket item; discounts of $100 to $150 are common.
- Capsule machines: cheap to buy, expensive per cup. Often heavily discounted with capsule bundles.
Ovenware and baking dishes
Ceramic and enamelled cast iron dishes from well-known brands often drop by half on Black Friday. They last decades, so this is a good moment to buy the expensive version.
How to spot a real deal
- Check the price history with a price tracker such as Keepa. If the price went up in October, the "discount" is not real.
- Compare models, not just prices. Brands sometimes make a cheaper Black Friday-only model with fewer features.
- Look at the warranty. In the EU you have at least 2 years of legal warranty; in the US it depends on the maker.
- Check the plug and voltage when buying from another country's store.
